About the author

Carl Maguire writes speculative fiction, often underpinned by folklore and mythology. His poetry spans darker work exploring mental health, as well as lighter pieces on childhood, family, belonging, and identity. His poem, The Life Cycle of an Acorn Seedling, was long-listed for the November 2025 Tadpole Press 100-word Writing Contest, and his flash fiction piece, No Stairway to Heaven, placed 4th in the Globe Soup October 2025 Micro Competition.
